The possibility of purchasing imported goods of ordinary receipt has been facilitated for seafarers, port workers and factories. Control over such trade is carried out by the trade union committee of the ship's staff, the women's council, and public organizations of coastal enterprises. In the future, outbound trade will expand and improve.
The shipping company is taking measures to improve the household services of its workers. Since 1986, 3 agricultural plants with an area of 480, 885 and 980 m have been built in Odessa at their own expense. About 50 consumer service points have been opened on the territory of large enterprises and organizations. So, in the port of Odessa there are sewing studios, shoe repair and laundry reception points, workshops for repairing household appliances, watches, clothes, at the Ilyichevsk shipyard there are sewing studios, hairdressers, savings banks, clothing repair and laundry reception points. The Black Sea Central Basin Clinical Hospital by water transport serves 309,466 sailors, rivermen, fishermen, and the total number of hospital beds is 1,765.
